Florida Surf Film Fest

Florida Surf Film Festival was founded in December of 2012 and prides itself on encouraging creatives through their events. Up until this year they hosted their events at Atlantic Center of the Arts. Recently, with a bigger audience they needed a bigger venue and were able to secure screenings at Daytona State College News Journal Center. This weekend Friday and Saturday starting at 6pm the screenings start!

It’s great to see local events grow to new heights, especially in our community. I’ve been multiple times and have seen so many great films, even if you’re not a surfer the films transcend the sport. And if you have that creative bug, make sure to submit your films for a chance to get them screened. The types of films are very diverse and are not always (competition centered) so no matter your level of surfing, a great film can be appreciated by others. Make sure to get your tickets here for this weekend! Check them out on Facebook for daily updates as well.

BUSINESS SPOTLIGHT

The Uncommon Grain is located at 11 W. Granada Blvd in Ormond Beach

Bakery Cafe in Full Swing

The Uncommon Grain has one thing figured out, if you do something right you don’t need a ton of variety. Their menu is perfect, they feature fresh baked breads and pastries, lunch and breakfast sandwiches, and smoothies. They aren’t confused about what they are trying to do. Their mission is simple and you can sense it from the first time you walk into try it for the first time.

I’m excited to see new spots coming to our area, especially when they seem like ones that are going to stick around. I’m curious how many of our readers have checked them out yet? If you haven’t you MUST, such a refreshing atmosphere and their love of quality ingredients is obvious. Check them out on Facebook for updates and daily specials as well!

REAL ESTATE CORNER

1319 Redbourne Lane Ormond Beach

Top Sold Home

“ This weeks top sold home (6bed 4baths over 5,000 sqft) had a major rollercoaster ride on their ask price vs sold price. It was originally listed for $2.7M over a year ago on May 19th of 2024 and it sold on June 3rd 2025 for $1.7M. As impressive and spacious as the home is, location just matters more. Our top sellers that are much smaller can fetch prices similar or above due to their distance to the ocean/intracoastal, after all we do live in Florida. Click here to see more photos and details!”

PET(S) OF THE WEEK

3’s a party

Candid

This is one the favorite sections of the newsletter. Every week I receive pet photo submissions and have to pick a winner and it’s not easy. Send in your photos for a chance to have your pet featured next week!

From what I am told, one of our subscribers is a dog-sitter and she said they did this unexpectedly. What is even cooler is all three dogs have separate owners. How cool is that? Three stranger pups cuddled up on one another on their first day meeting.

Did you like this weeks issue? And will you go to Surf Film Fest or Uncommon Grain?
